 That patch has the right idea, but doesn't work with the lastest BSD 
 ports tree. the shutdown function ends up getting patched instead of 
 setsockopt (aleast with my FreeBSD 6.2 / Mono 1.2.3.1 port tree). Any

+Since FreeBSD is maintaining its own patches anyway, why don't
+you ask the maintainer to integrate this patch? Even if it doesn't
+merge correctly, the maintainer should be able to correct it.
