Unless someone gives me a really good reason to change the current behaviour,
I'm going to keep it as is. Currently, the behaviour is consistent across
platforms. It might or might not be entirely consistent with what windows does,
due to the reasons stated above (i.e., it's not a well documented behaviour, it
depends on a wild variety of settings, no one has quite the same user
experience as the next guy. The fun...).
