Thanks for these details.

Sorry for the possible stupid question but... I understand the need to rely on
whatever chosen watcher implementation for the System.IO class library.

What I do not really understand is :
- what are the dependencies between mod-mono-server and the watcher (I do not
have any code in my apps that directly call System.IO.FileSystemWatcher) ? What
I can see is that when I start apache/mod-mono-server
- is the presence of at least one type of watcher mandatory ?
- even if I remove gamin from my system, it still works. How do I check which
watcher mono is using.
- if mandatory, what order of magnitude of performance penalty does the managed
watcher add versus native ones ?

So, for this bug report, would you say the bug relies in mono or rather in the
watcher (gamin) ? If so, is it safer to use the managed watcher ?
