Perhaps it would possible to provide the binarys that need ncurses with the absolute path to ncurses.so. I'm not quite sure on how to do this with gcc but I know it is possible. The binarys would find ncurses without the need that the so is in LD_LIBRARY_PATH. So the deployed ncurses.so can not interfere with a allready installed in the system.
