MS.NET retains the same connection. Also, it has nothing to do with the "TdsTimeoutException" rather the "waitfor delay 00:00:10" thingy is the culprit. If you simulate the same "Timeout" exception in a different manner, as said by Mark, his test sample works like a charm.
