I just tested it with Mono from svn on Linux and > works fine. I accidentally saw this bug and tested on Windows XP both with 2.4.2.3 and SVN HEAD and I can reproduce with either. The \r\n render as two boxes [][] so it seems it doesn't recognize them as newline chars.
