I found a solution: SoundPlayer sp = new SoundPlayer(new FileStream("/usr/share/sounds/gaum/send.wav", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read)); sp.Play();
That one plays the sound but the construnctor taking a string does not.
