Whoops, include the list.... The root of your problem is that windows media player does not exist on linux (for obvious reasons ;) ). If you want an application which can play media files on different platforms, you'll either have to write a platform specific media playing backend or use a cross platform backend and ensure it's available on all systems your app is run on.
For example on windows you could use WMP. On Linux you could use gstreamer. On MacOS you could probably use CoreAudio or CoreVideo, or maybe something else. I'm not sure what'd be appropriate.
