Hi Andrew,
I've managed to install MonoDevelop once but can't seem to reproduce the same result with a different box, what you can do to get started is to install that dmg file that you have(note the dmg file from mono-project.com only works with Panther).
then either you can go with darwinports (http://darwinports.opendarwin.org) or
use fink (http://fink.sourceforge.net)
to help you install the dependencies of monodevelop, alot of readings needs to be done and so far no one has really come up with a fool-proof documentation on
how to install monodevelop on Mac OS X, i'm still trying to come up with my own documentation as i struggle to install it myself.
regards, j

I don't know if this is the correct place for this question, but I was wondering if there is any documentation concerning the installation of mono/monodevelop on the Mac. I've downloaded and installed the monoframework-1.0.2.dmg but I need help in getting the rest of it installed. I would class myself as computer literate (I am a mainframe programmer for a living) but I am not really 'unix savvy'. What I need is 'An idiot's guide to installing mono on Mac OSX'
Thanks, Andrew
