Hello List,
I hope this is the right place to ask my
questions!
If not, please let me know on where to
go.
I collected some (still beginners
level) C# experiance with MS.Net an am very interessted in MONO.
I have to admit, that I am a beginner with linux
also.
I am using SuSE Linux 9.0
After reading through quit some www. pages about
mono, buying a book (the only one available on the german market) and
downloading and installing the recommended rpm's:
- mono-0.28-1.ximian.7.1.i586.rpm
-
mono-devel-0.28-1.ximian.7.1.i586.rpm
I am now ready to start....but how?
Well, I have done the "hello.cs" and it works, but
now I would like to setup a acceptable developement enviroment
(remember , I made my first steps in C# with visual
studio.NET and therefore am a little fastidious).
So here are my "beginners" questions:
- Which IDE should I use?
- How can I get it installed and
working?
- Is there a graphical Development Enviroment at
all?
- How can I get the mono debugger to
work?
I tried to build it on my machine, but I
can't get beyond "configure".
Configure keeps complaining "Cant find
jay".
- What is jay, and what do I have to do to get it
working on my machine?
May be there is a paper out there in the www that
some one has written who went through all this already? That would be
greate!
Sorry, if some, many, maybe all of these questions
sound stupid, but as I said I am a beginner concerning this subject and I hope
to find some one who can get me on the way.
Regards
Rainer
