There may be yet another alternative. you could look at an installer I
am working on. It is somewhat experimental but it may offer a very good
development environment in Win32.

Please read the release notes. I will welcome any feedback.

Hi.
I used the windows installer from the mono-project.com website. Once
installed, I am able to use mono and mcs in cygwin. Have you tried that?

Subject: [Mono-list] Mono 1.0 & Cygwin
Hello,
I'm developping under windows and I would like to be able to run my
application under "linux like" OS.
So, I tried to install Mono 1.0 under Cygwin, but I can't find any guide to
do this ...
I've installed Cygwin with all the library.
Then, I tried to do under mono-1.0 folder:
./configure --with-gc=none
make
make install
but it failed during the make:
it is blocked on : "./monoburg ./sample.brg > sample.c"
then, hitting Ctrl+c gives me:
"make[3]: *** Deleting file `sample.c'
make[3]: *** [sample.c] Error 139
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Interrupt
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Interrupt
make: *** [all] Interrupt
"
Thanks.
Joss.
