Hello Miguel,

Anybody knows if Solaris 8 in sparc is mono supported??

It does.

That is where we build Mono on our build bot.

Me too I have been trying to get Mono running on Solaris without success. Like I posted earlier, I am running a virgin Solaris 10 x86 with all developer packages from the CDs installed, and by now I have Sun Studio 11 installed and am trying Mono 1.1.11 (-> 1.1.12 source does not have any ./configure or ./autogen.sh!!!). Problem is still the libelf error I started out with (now /opt/SUNWspro/bin and /usr/ccs/bin in the path).

It requires you to
manually setup the GNU toolchain which is where you seem to be stuck.

We use gcc ourselves.
The GCC at sunfreeware.com too appears to use the Mono-incompatible /usr/ccs/bin/ld, and I cannot find any info on what exactly I need to do to get Mono running on Solaris.

Can't you *please* post a list of what software one needs to install in order to compile Mono on Solaris? After all, you are claiming that it runs on Solaris on the Mono front page! The Mono:Solaris page however simply redirects to Mono:SPARC architecture page (although Solaris is also available for x86) and offers no special info on any Solaris setup procedures. (Binary packages like on OSX would of course also be handy but I'm not even asking for that.)

Do I need OpenSolaris / Solaris Express instead of Solaris 10 to run Mono?

I have a Milestone presentation coming up soon and would like to showcase my Mono based server software on a Solaris box for an interoperability demonstration...

Best regards,

Andreas
