OK. Just for information, it seems to be working a lot better with a matched 
libgdiplus 
version. I'm going to leave it running overnight to see if it is still going in 
the morning.

I'll also talk to the boss about going with the latest version, and/or 
converting the UI to 
use GTK.

In view of the fact that this is a critical application, which would you 
recommend as being 
more stable?

SVN head + Windows Forms
SVN head + GTK
1.1.15 with GTK
1.1.13.x (shown as "stable" on the web page) with GTK
