Without a testcase, it's impossible to tell. The difference could be anything really. If you suspect a bug in mono, then there needs to be some testcase that can be run so we can pinpoint the issue. One thing you could try would be to run your program under mono on windows and see if you get the same performance as it does under .NET on windows.
