I am contemplating starting up a venture in the SF Bay Area. I have no experience in the Mono or Linux communities, so I would appreciate any feed back to the following:
1) Mono applications, especially a web site running on 64-bit Linux 2) Mono applications using Hadoop/Hbase 3) Availabilty of talented people in SF Bay Area willing to work on interesting projects in this kind of environment. 4) Anyone who can compare this kind of environment to a MS environment. Administrative overhead, pros/cons, etc. 5) Tossing the C# and porting to Java instead. I already have a pretty extensive code base in C#, and my background is in MS application development, but scaling up to dozens or more of servers gets kind of expensive with MS licensing. I'm interested in all knowledgeable feedback. thanks -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Mono-in-SF-Bay-Area-tp25251509p25251509.html Sent from the Mono - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Mono-list maillist - [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/mono-list
