What an annoying post this is ? Mono has 5 million LOC; if all the mono team couldn't fix the stability issues in GC and mod_mono, how can I fix it ? tyler-53 wrote: > > * get Novell support to fix it > If I want to buy something, perhaps I can buy 100 windows and some vs.net licenses. tyler-53 wrote: > > * buy licenses from Microsoft and try their stack to see if it fixes it > If this is the last and the best solution, what's mono used for ? for development of toys ? Mono is a unique huge open source project and I like it so much and I like the mono team, too. But you can not guard the project like this, we're making bussiness and have to be careful for our investments. You can simply say "if you need stability, wait for the 2.6 or 2.8 release", thats all. Here is a sample comparision chart : php -> used by yahoo. alexa traffic rank 3 python -> used by youtube. alexa traffic rank 4 ms.net/c# -> used by myspace. alexa traffic rank 11 ruby -> used by twitter. alexa traffic rank 14 scala -> used by twitter (switching from rails). alexa traffic rank 14 java -> used by ebay. alexa traffic rank 24 mono -> used by govtrack.us. alexa traffic rank 31798 mono -> used by whorunsgov.com. alexa traffic rank 46347 this is not a nice situation form the mono perspective, if you have a higher traffic reference you can add it here (wikipedia and mozilla are not valid referenceas as I said before). So, I think mono team need to fix GC & mod_mono stability issues first (it's the most important think in my opinion) and then they'll probably got good web reference projects.
