Back in ~July 2010 I had successfully managed to get Mono 2.6 and MonoDevelop
2.4 working on PC-BSD 8.0. Needless to say it required a measure of patience
and copius amounts of time to get it all working correctly but it is
possible (and getting the correct pkg utilities to work). I have not had a
chance to re-visit PC-BSD and Mono 2.8 though.
