Ok on further trials and searching. This seems to be a bug in MONO DEVELOP or the DEBUGGER Enginer.
In that if I run in Mono Develop, no matter if I try to get RequestStream or ResponseStream, it throws the timeout error immediately. If I drop out, and run mono app.exe, all runs fine. Is their a fix to Mono Develop which allows using HttpWebRequest in debugger?
