We all understand that with an open source, volunteer effort things "get done when they get done".
What I had hoped to find out was: 1) Am I mis-reading the three links I referenced that suggest that this method has actually been implemented? 2) Is there any ordered "to-do list" among the active developers, and is this item on it? and 3) Has anyone other than myself stumbled over this particular issue, or is is so unimportant to most people that it may languish for years? If I had expertise in implementing socket code I'd step in and do it. I don't, or I would not have raised the question.
