You're mixing up Oracle's *Java* (w/out Script) lawsuit against Google
with Gnome's rather pragmatic decision to make JavaScript a first-class
citizen for desktop development.
This decision is not against Mono. It's rather pro-GNOME, as they simply
wanted an easy entry-level and well-known programming language for
their desktop.
Mono, C# and GKT# is a much more "professional" approach, farther
away from being entry-level. It is much more than a programming
language, so you can't compare it with JavaScript + GNOME bindings.
Time will tell. Maybe JavaScript will help them to break binary
compatibility even more often :)
