Apparently there are two different things out there called mono tools. There's monotools.com, which is the visual studio plugin, and there's mono-tools, which seems to be part of the mono source, packaged separately in at least fedora (probably other distros too.) So, now that I've cleared myself of THAT confusion ... You didn't say anything at all about your environment. So you're not likely to get any compilation clues from other people here.
