I think the generally accepted wisdom is don't use winforms. The GUI experience on every platform is different - you should design your backend code separately from your GUI code, so you can easily slap on a new GUI in different platforms. Personally, I'll be glad when X11 is finally dead and gone (as it almost is now.) And winforms is based on X11. So...
