Wouldn't it make more sense to just help out with Gtk#, Qt# or the Aqua binding?  
After all, any
higher level toolkit, whether swing, winforms or something completely different, will 
require a
solid foundation first...  I don't mean to discourage you, you are of course 
completely free to
pursue what you like, but IMHO we don't have a lack of GUI frameworks to choose from 
;-)
