Use gmcs to compile a 2.0 assembly. You can also replace the system.data, drawing, and forms statements with -pkg:dotnet. It should look roughly like: gmcs form1.cs form1.designer.cs -resource:form1.resx joystick.cs program.cs /out:main.exe -reference:..\..\..\common\dll\my.dll -pkg:dotnet You can also use -r: instead of -reference: if you want.
