I reported a similar bug about Treeview selection not being cancelable (making it so you could select multiple nodes), and it's been fixed in 2.4. Please check with the 2.4 preview (http://mono.ximian.com/monobuild/preview/download-preview/) that the bug is still there before reporting it.
