No, technically it's not dead. However, Attachmate / Novell still owns MonoDroid, including the name (same with MonoTouch, but not MonoDevelop or Mono). Attachmate/Novell are providing no support, including "help, I need to reset my license!" or even a basic function like replying to any emails. So it might as well be dead.
But you are right - Miguel and co - aka Xamarin - are coming out with something new "soon" (6 months or so for MD, 3 for MT). Their stated aim is 100% source compatibility, however it's a new product, and has nothing at all to do with Attachmate / Novell or MonoDroid/MonoTouch (and, I suspect, can't legally be called or mention MonoTouch/MonoDroid by name) On Sat, Jun 11, 2011 at 10:58, [TA] Raffaele Rialdi <[email protected]> wrote: > The project is not dead. > > I understand the project is exactly the same but the new Miguel’s company is > just started, so we have to wait for them to reorganize. > > I am pretty sure Miguel will let us know about MonoTouch/MonoDroid project, > website, mailing lists, and obviously marketing details (and eventually > student edition too). > > > > Be patient … > > > > Raffaele Rialdi > Microsoft .NET MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com - > http://italy.mvps.org > My MVP Profile: https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/raffaele > Weblog: http://blogs.ugidotnet.org/raffaele > Senior Software Developer, Teacher, > Internal Auditor Quality Management System > Vevy Europe ATD website http://atd.vevy.com > > > > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Niels Henriksen > Sent: venerdì 10 giugno 2011 09:03 > To: Discussions related to Mono for Android > Subject: Re: [mono-android] Student Edition > > > > Hi Anja > > As I could see during a few weeks the monodroid project is dead.
