Hi
On Friday I have had the same problem:
1. worked all morning on crossplatform project mostly on M4A stuff with
designer.
2. switched between VS and MD several times
3. shutdown before going home
4. at home opened this solution with the same error... (below)
5. done several times devenv <Name>.sln /log
6. uninstalled/reinstalled M4A 4.1.1
7. error appeared few more times
8. suddenly everything was ok.
1. "new" version 4.0.6 dialog appears - plugin loads OK
Could it be something with version checking?

It sounds like maybe something didn't get installed correctly.
Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove "Mono for Android", and then
try running the msi again:
