Just to follow up on this, it looks like MonoDevelop 3.0 running on the exact
same system can see and connect to the emulator and upload an app on the exact

Subject: [mono-android] seeing the emulator
I have a machine running the 4.2.1 release. This machine is running the eval
version. ADB can see the device when i run "adb devices", however, VS does not
see the emulator session. I think I have read where several other people have
experienced this. Anyone have pointers that can help out? I've tried stopping
and restarting the adb server at the command line several times with no luck.
