Hmm - now that you mention it, I DO have a service already. And I'm pretty much using it for exactly that, so that sounds like a good idea.
Feels a bit like I'm continuing to abuse services because Google doesn't like us to keep shared state. Sometimes I wonder why they build apps like webpages.
