Another place to look for error messages is in the AndroidTools log files:
Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MonoDevelop-3.0\Logs\AndroidTools-DATE.log
OSX:
$HOME/Library/Logs/MonoDevelop-3.0/AndroidTools-DATE.log
