I just realize that my previous statement could be interpreted differently so
here I go again:
I'm talking about DEBUG builds only. They are made by creating a brand new
Android app with zero settings changed (so yes, no internet permissions but
in debug mode it's not needed). Needless to say that the actual app where I
first noticed the problem does have that permission (it is also in DEBUG
mode).

I never test on the simulator - why performance is so abysmal even in 2013
only Google can explain. Even the Pocket PC sim I used to work on back in
2001 was way more performant. But I'm in the wrong forum for that..

All network connections go through WiFi.

Why do you create your own Application on your code? Shouldn't registering
the certificate validation callback registration take from anywhere and
remain until the app closes?

Will test your approach when I've arrived at work..

Regards
Stephan
