It can have local incremental revisions, so for a specific database at
a specific time, it can enumerate the DAG and produce a numbering (a
numbering with useful meaning).  I think it could be made a stable
enumeration, too (so a 2.7.1 revision in a particular database will
always be 2.7.1).  

I'm not sure whether that's useful enough to be worth doing (it still
can't be global), but if someone coded it, I think it would be worth
playing with, just to see.
