it's not only that; it's also the problem that the templates in MonoDevelop
for creating new projects and (xib) files are totally different in
MonoDevelop 2.8... this all adds to the confusion. If the book says 'create
an empty project' you get something that does not resemble the samples in
the book...

I bought 4 books and got a good start usign XCode 3 and MD 2.6, but once the
community went over to xcode 4 and MD 2.8, i basically had to start all over
again. For a novice who wants to learn using xcode 4 and MD 2.8, the books
are virtually useless.

If you have any of the 4 books and want to learn from them, i would
recommend installing xcode 3 and monodevelop 2.6... which brings you to
another problem, if you're a novice on Apple as well, you will have trouble
installing xcode 3 on Lion... but it can be done :)
