One thing to keep in mind here is that the new Async-aware compiler lives
in 2.12, and it brings in a whole load of new features which are the ones
that need to be tested/QAed before MonoTouch can upgrade as a whole to 2.12.

But I wonder if we could just take the mcs.exe compiler from 2.12, write a
wrapper smcs script and use that with MonoTouch today.
