Hello Benedikt, Mono's WebClient never calls that events (and MonoTouch inherits this behavior). It's a known issue: http://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3100
You can add yourself on c.c. on the bug report to be notified of it's progress.
