Today i've been testing scenarios where the bluetooth or wifi connection drops out mid transfer, and ensure my app deals with it gracefully. It was a bit annoying running down the corridor of my apartment block with one phone, then coming back to my apartment, looking at the logs on the other and ensuring it did things right. I realised a much easier way...
Put your phone in the microwave! A microwave oven operates in the same frequency band as Wifi and bluetooth signals (as well as cordless phones and a number of other things). This means that the walls of the microwave are designed to block EM energy in the 2.4GHz frequency band. Thus if a phone is inside and is emitting a 2.4GHz signal, it wont get through the walls. Just make sure you dont turn on your microwave! *Maybe plug it out* just incase you accidentally hit a button or something. Once the microwave is plugged out though, its fine. And the signal dropout occurs the instant you shut the door, which makes testing something like this a lot easier. Note that this may not work with an iPad on Wifi as it may be connected @5Ghz. I haven't tested it. Disclaimer: Dont blame me if you hit the start button and accidentally cook your iPhone :-) -- View this message in context: http://monotouch.2284126.n4.nabble.com/A-quick-tip-for-testing-wifi-bluetooth-dropouts-tp4401023p4401023.html Sent from the MonoTouch mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ MonoTouch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/monotouch
