I poked around, and MonoDevelop seems to be contacting "api.crashlytics.com" when using a random API key, which responds with:
"Configuring crash reporting for this application Extra information returned from crash reporting server: Crash reporting configuration failed. The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."
