It's worth if your cache access frequency is not very high and there are quite enough keys in it that you're not converting back too many keys at one.
If your cache is small, just a few dozen entries, it's probably not worth it. Converting to BSON is, at least, a good form to estimate the footprint of you cache and know if you're not using too much memory.
