Apologies for just noticing this thread.  I would wrap this up in a thread so 
that the download of the image takes place off the main thread.  I've written 
about how to do this in:

I use a threadpool thread (I'm so .NET 1.0) and it works pretty well.  You can 
do this many different ways.  I've also tried with the TPL and had success.
