Odd, I've found it - on my iPhone 4S - to be very quick. The 3D map is a little slow, but thats to be expected (you're talking iOS6 right?) > 2) Custom push pins don't seem to work very well (appear randomly) Define "custom"? Just a pin? or your image? I suspect they will, but not yet. Look into OpenStreetMap, you might be able to use that, but you also might have to run your own tile server for it!
