Isn't she ... pretty in pink? If you're a fan of 80s teen movies,
then the answer is a resounding "yes!" Molly Ringwald stars as the
titular pink fox, Andie, a social misfit from the wrong side of the
tracks with her own funky style and a habit of not fitting in. Along
with her geeky New Wave pal Duckie (Jon Cryer), Andie is always on
the outside looking in.
One day, this bitchin' babe's world is turned upside down when she
falls for rich high school heartthrob Blane (the doe-eyed Andrew
McCarthy), and he feels that she is, like, totally awesome too. This
doesn't sit well with the school's rich preppy squad, led by the Izod-
wearing facist Steff (James Spader), who think Andie is "trailer
trash." Andie is soon caught in a Romeo and Juliet-inspired funk,
forced to choose between following her heart or her head. Will advice
from her alcoholic wreck of a father (Harry Dean Stanton) help? Will
Duckie profess his hidden love for Andie? And most importantly, will
she make it to the prom?
