"Odorama" card (while supplies last)! Just follow the onscreen
instructions and you will actually smell the filth!
"A rancidly hilarious slice of American pie!"
- Newsweek.
Get your sniffer ready for the ultimate movie gimmick when The Loft
presents John Waters' hilarious 1980 comedy POLYESTER in glorious
Odorama, Waters' lovingly stinky homage to the wacky movie gimmicks
of B-movie legend William Castle (The Tingler). Advertised as a "new
dimension in motion pictures," Odorama will actually let you smell
the wonderfully stench-ridden world of suburban Baltimore.
John Waters' first "mainstream" comedy is a subversive melodrama
starring Divine as the put-upon Francine Fishpaw, a suburban
housewife driven to the edge of insanity by her cheating husband, her
trampy teenaged daughter, her mentally-challenged best friend
"Cuddles Kovinsky," her abusive mother, and her perverted son, aka
"The Baltimore Foot Stomper!" She eventually finds comfort in the
well-tanned arms of a dreamy local drive-in owner played by Tab
Hunter, but not before her soap opera-of-a-life has dragged her down
the road to ruin.
Experience the olfactory overload of Odorama, the world's first (and
last?) scratch-n-sniff movie gimmick, featuring a dizzying array of
smells, from beautiful roses and pine-scented air freshener to some
decidedly more offensive aromas (watch out for odor number 2 on your
Odorama card)!
