precluded my actually sailing her until last Wed :(
Some of you here may ALSO have recieved orders to
report to your Duty Stations. I recieved my orders to
report to US Coast Guard Station New London, as I am a
USCG Reservist :) My CO gave me 24 hour Liberty to get
her over to the Station, as we are on full alert
status, protecting the harbor, Naval Submarine Base,
CG Academy, Electric Boat, and Millstone Nuclear Power
STN. This is the 2nd time I have been able to get
online since then, all non essential computer use is
prohibited on Station at this time, so I have to get
to a public computer to read email/send this. Whoa
Nellie is anchored off the CG STN in New London,CT,
and being watched over by the whole Station's Patrol
Boats, probably the best protected M-17 in the World
right now :) I have orders for 3 months out, though
some have them for a YEAR already! Oh well, the
Bahamas will still be there next Winter..........I
wish you all well, and hope the Country gets through
this soon, waking every day and putting on a bullet
proof vest UNDER my lifejacket, not to mention
gunbelt, gets wearing on a person's mind.......Hope to
get more time on Liberty soon. God Bless you and your
families, this does'nt look good going in........Capt
Eugene USCGR
