If you read enough from the devs, it is very clear. MooTools was created FOR THEIR USE on their personal projects and client work. It was created to make THEIR lives easier. They really don't care if anyone else uses is, although I'm sure they take great satisfaction in seeing its popularity. They release it to the public because others find it useful and their nice people. They have never focused on publicity or really care if it is as popular as jquery or anything else. Given that, I think it speaks volumes for the framework because it IS a very popular framework because, well, it rocks. This should definitely not be taken as a putdown of the MT crew. Its their framework, their choice, and I use it because of its tremendous power and simplicity. So, their strategy is, make mootools the best it can be and let the chips fall where they may and thats perfectly fine with me.
