You can do a bit of hacking to make fading like effect available.
1. create a div#page and steal all the html from body. 2. set zIndex on #page to 2 3. create div#fade with fixed position and window full size and zIndex 1 with opacity 0 and some color you'd like to fade to. 4. fadeIn the #fade, change the background and fade it out.
