> do not tell me you actually like IE ¬¬ Nope! I don't actually "like" any browser. I just deal. We have a 50/50 split of Mac/Windows, a 35/35/30 split by FF/WK/IE across the OSs, and even within those slices, we have crazily even breakdowns like 30/35/35 IE8/IE7/IE6.* I'm often heard screaming at IE. But also may be heard muttering at Safari or seen shaking fists and/or head at FF.
Perhaps because IE is neither alpha- nor underdog in our development, I am able to throw it a few more bones for doing things right? In this case, the letter of DOM 2 HTML is in IE's corner: "Interoperability between implementations is only guaranteed for elements and attributes that are specified in the HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.0 DTDs." (1.1) So basically, "Don't just try to push stuff into an HTML document that isn't HTML." Different area from using the browser to manage XML fragments _as_ XML. -- Sandy
