Hi all,

Apologies for this off-topic post, but I was hoping somebody here
would have an answer to this question.

Recently, we've started using a (slightly modified version of) "Fancy
Buttons", found here:
http://brandonmathis.com/projects/fancy-buttons/demo/

They look fantastic in webkit, slightly less fantastic in Firefox, and
perfectly acceptable in IE. What I have noticed is that IE7 (and IE6
as well, but I care less about that) renders the buttons slightly
larger than in other browsers, even IE8. If I go to the above URL in
IE8 on XP, and flip back and forth between compatibility mode, the
buttons all get slightly larger in IE7. This is more of a nuisance
than anything else, and I think I can probably solve it with an IE7-
specific stylesheet, but I'd like to know what's actually going on
before I try and apply a fix. I've searched the web for info on how
IE renders buttons, and why it's changed between IE7 and 8, but
haven't found anything relevant.

Anybody know why this might be happening?
