    });
    Element.Events.paste = {
        base : (Browser.Engine.presto || (Browser.Engine.gecko &&
Browser.Engine.version < 19)) ? 'input' : 'paste',
        condition: function(e){
            this.fireEvent('paste', e, 1);
            return false;
        }
    };

than you can do:

$('input_id').addEvent('paste', function(){
  // your code
});
