Thomas spoke with me because I work at Microsoft. As he mentioned,
I've done my best to escalate it as far as possible and convince them
to allow developers to use any libraries but didn't receive any
positive feedback other than redirect people to the FAQ.

Additionally, while I am a member of the jQuery project team, I'm very
much against the exclusion of other libs and have made my opinion very
clear internally at Microsoft. I find it silly to include jQuery &
Prototype but not allow other libs. It doesn't make sense to me. It's
not a contest that I'm involved with so coming in after the fact has
made it impossible to change the direction.

With that said, I have some ideas that I'd like to move on under a
Microsoft project that I do have control over which is the Script
Junkie website, of which Thomas himself will be contributing to
shortly. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptjunkie/default.aspx)

I'll keep you guys posted.

And yes, give the 1kJS contest a go.
