few things: 1. its cancel not stop 2. if I understand your problem, you need to also find out the width of the span when starting the 'fadeout' effect or you'll get a wierd behavior 3. there is nothing wrong with using the built in morph instance - for most cases it's more easier, and on the worst case scenario, you can always store that instance in another place.
